Sophie
Sophie began
dancing in 2001 as a student of Yael Moav in Jerusalem.
Following her relocation to the San Francisco Bay Area Sophie joined the
Hala Dance Company. As a member of the troupe
she performed Egyptian folkloric repertoire throughout the Bay Area, including
the prestigious San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival in June 2004.
Sophie continues to train locally, studying dance with Alcina
and Arabic percussion with Faisal Zedan. As a committed
student of Raqs Sharqi, Sophie attends numerous master classes with prominent
international instructors such as Leila Haddad, Momo Kadous, Atef
Faraq, Magda Ibrahim, Shareen El Safy and others.
