{"id":1251,"date":"2010-02-16T22:23:40","date_gmt":"2010-02-17T05:23:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/cms\/?p=1251"},"modified":"2010-02-16T23:19:49","modified_gmt":"2010-02-17T06:19:49","slug":"bonitakhaleegydvd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/cms\/2010\/02\/16\/bonitakhaleegydvd\/","title":{"rendered":"<h3>Rainbow Dancers of the Dunes<\/h3>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/productreviewgraphics\/09\/AmiraKhaleegy.jpg\" alt=\"Khaleegy DVD\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" align=\"right\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Amera&#8217;s &quot;Learn to dance Khaleegy&quot; <\/h2>\n<h3>DVD review by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/aboutuspages\/bonita.htm\">Bonita<\/a><br \/>\n<span class=\"footnotes\">posted February 16, 2009<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I have been waiting for a Khaleegy Instructional DVD to come on the market for some time and was delighted to review and learn from   \u00a0&quot;Learn to dance Khaleegy&quot; by Amera..<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"artist\">Amera<\/span>, a legendary Australian dancer who worked in the Middle East,\u00a0begins with a brief poetic, documentary presentation of Khaleegy basic background history and how it personally touched her heart.\u00a0There is an excellent, readable booklet in the DVD jacket that includes history, glossary,   step outline and the modern Khallegy song\u00a0 translation for the choreography piece.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<table width=\"130\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\" cellpadding=\"10\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td><iframe src=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?t=thegildedserpent&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;asins=B002TYFUE6&#038;fc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;lt1=_blank&#038;m=amazon&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;bc1=000000&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;f=ifr\" style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>The choreography, set to the song\u00a0 &quot;Moushtagaliek&quot; is   simple, charming and would be a nice novelty act for a belly dance recital to introduce students to khaleegy basics or could be danced by a professional troupe to expand its repetiore.\u00a0 A minor editorial misprint is that the chapters   on the DVD\u00a0 back cover are a bit off and do not line up with the actual chapters   on the DVD.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"highlight\">The steps themselves are introduced gradually, built upon   with more layers and explained and demonstrated clearly and thoroughly   throughout the process.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 There are basic steps we are familiar with such as\u00a0 the   Hair Swish- but there are also interesting layered add ons as well that keep   within the Khaleegy rhythm but can take even the professional dancer beyond the tiresome, trite few tricks up her Khaleegy sleeve (maybe I am only speaking for   myself here?)..I really liked how the Hair Swish was explained- I must say it   has always sadly eluded me and Amera&#8217;s hints were   terrific..\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The DVD is beautifully produced and climaxes with   stunning thobe clad dancers as a rainbow chain on infinite dunes.
