Invited dancers were asked to create new works based upon the theme &quot;Objects of Desire&quot;.  The performers responded with an interesting array of interpretations, ranging from the literal to the highly abstract.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/SarahSkinnerSistersSalome.jpg\" alt=\"Sisters of Salome\" width=\"500\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">The most narrative piece was was <span class=\"artist\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/aboutuspages\/sarahskinner.htm\">Sarah Skinner<\/a><\/span> and the <span class=\"company\">Sisters of Salome<\/span>&#8216;s &quot;Little Mermaid&quot;, who desired the handsome prince so much she eventually sacrificed her earthly life for him.  This was the largest ensemble in the show, including an evil sea-witch, a competitive princess, a helpful sea-witch and of course a handsome prince.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/SarahSkinnerSistersSalome2.jpg\" alt=\"Sisters of Salome\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/AutumWard.jpg\" alt=\"Autumn Ward in &quot;Eve&quot;\" width=\"500\" height=\"303\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" >Another familiar tale was <span class=\"artist\">Autumn Ward<\/span>&#8216;s innocent yet beguiling &quot;Eve&quot; having the flames of her desire for the apple fanned by the darkly seductive serpent (<span class=\"artist\">Amador S. Juarez<\/span>). <\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/Layla.jpg\" alt=\"Layla\" width=\"420\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Still more literal (at least visually) was <span class=\"artist\">Layla<\/span>&#8216;s campy, crowd-pleasing &quot;Cruella de Vil&quot;, complete with baskets of stuffed puppies and a dalmation-accented costume. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/TannaValentine.jpg\" width=\"418\" height=\"500\" alt=\"Tanna Valentine\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n<span class=\"artist\">Tanna Valentine<\/span>&#8216;s &quot;Duty or Desire&quot; portrayed the infamous object of desire Helen of Troy,  whose personal desires remain unknown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/DenaShazadiDancers.jpg\" alt=\"Shazad Dancers\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Other variations on the desirable female theme included <span class=\"artist\">Dena<\/span> &amp; the <span class=\"company\">Shazadi Dancers<\/span>&#8216; playful &quot;Inside the Haram&quot;, <span class=\"artist\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/aboutuspages\/neon.htm\">Neon<\/a><\/span>&#8216;s intriguing &quot;Odalisque&quot; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/aboutuspages\/elisheva.htm\"><span class=\"artist\">Elisheva<\/span><\/a>&#8216;s booty-kicking &quot;Dominatrix (D)&quot;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/Neon.jpg\" alt=\"Neon\" width=\"389\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Neon<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/Elisheva.jpg\" alt=\"Elisheva\" width=\"309\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/aboutuspages\/elisheva.htm\"><span class=\"artist\">Elisheva<\/span><\/a>&#8216;s booty-kicking &quot;Dominatrix (D)&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/Zobeida.jpg\" alt=\"Zobeida\" width=\"500\" height=\"494\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In &quot;Le Papillon de Nuit&quot; <span class=\"artist\">Zobeida<\/span> utilized double veils to embody a wistful butterfly desiring light.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gildedserpent.com\/art54\/graphics54\/BrianLin\/AysheZobeida.jpg\" alt=\"Ayshe and Zobeida\" width=\"500\" height=\"345\" \/><\/p>\n<p> <span class=\"artist\">Elena Lentini<\/span>&#8216;s ensemble (<span class=\"artist\">Alanah, Andrea Anwar, Bashirah, Kerri O&#8217;Neill, Yoshina<\/span>) filled the stage with color and movement and huge silk wings in &quot;The Genesis of the Butterfly&quot;.
