The Gilded Serpent presents...

Meissoun has been dancing since she could walk - whenever there was music, she would move... However, she didn't have much formal dance training until she discovered Raqs Sharqi 1990 on a holiday in Turkey.

From then on she took classes with various teachers in her hometown Zurich / Switzerland as well as countless workshops. She had her basic education with Layaly in Zurich, further teachers include Karin Azaria Siegrist, Nelly Mazloum, Mo Gedawwi, Raqia Hassan, Lilo von Hugo, Tania Cook and many others. Today, Meissoun mostly learns by studying the famous dancers of the Middle East on video, but she also traveled to Beirut several times to study with various Lebanese teachers there. As a result she produced an instructional DVD for Lebanese dance style.

Since 1994 Meissoun performs regularly at various occasions for an enthusiastic audience - be it at small private parties or big company events, in restaurants or on theater stages.

She also teaches workshops and private lessons and is the most internationally in demand Oriental dancer from Switzerland, being regularly invited to perform and teach at various dance festivals, especially in Germany but also Austria, UK, France, Norway, USA and Canada.

Meissoun has been writing well-researched articles about Oriental dance for many years, mostly published in German dance magazines, but also in several e-zines.

Her second passion are Indian dance styles. She started studying Bharata Natyam in 1996 and some years later began to choreograph, perform and teach Bollywood dance (Indian film dance) as well as studying and teaching Bhangra.
