The Gilded Serpent presents...

Orit

Orit Maftsir is currently the new talent in the Mediterranean sky. She gives concerts, teaches master-classes, produces her own shows, and performs in prestigious festivals and events. Ever since she discovered the gypsy in herself, she promoted dance projects and taught her personal technique, which is Egyptian-oriented with a touch of drama and a sense of humor.

In Israel, she is considered to be a very popular and favorite dancer, who gracefully entertains at various events and delights audiences that include local Arabs and Arab-born individuals who now live in Israel.

Her studies of the Egyptian style included traveling to Egypt (only an hour away), along with watching old Egyptian movies. However, her style is completely modern and individualized, as seen in the Cairo hotels. Her favorite current dancers are Randa Camel, who combines classical ballet moves with a folkloric base, and Fifi Abdu, who is her all-time inspiration in both energy and skills.

Orit is currently running her second show, “Star of the East”, with a live orchestra and a Lebanese singer. She will give workshops and performances this spring in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk, and also in the Mabruk festival in Brazil.

You can watch Orit and contact her through her web site or email.
