The Gilded Serpent presents...
Anne White
London, UK
My name is Anne White, I have been dancing some 20 plus years, my initial training was with Suraya Hilal, and I reflect her style of the 1980's and /early 1990s. I am a qualified teacher of this style, and I mention this because her work has now evolved into another form. I have been active in the United Kingdom community constantly since 1990, have worked with many Arab bands. I teach about 8-10 classes a week, teach and perform on a national basis at all major UK Events. I manage Planet Egypt of London and perhaps the UK’s premier Arabic monthly cabaret featuring some of the top names nationally and internationally. We have been running events every month for 8 years now.
The success of Planet Egypt has been “exported” to many other UK and international destinations, and our template has been recreated to good effect throughout the community. I did not want to copyright the format as I wanted to establish higher awareness of Arabic dance and music, featuring the best exponents that I could, and try and integrate the community in London and the UK better. Also I wanted to give others outside the main organizations a chance to be better known.
The main names I have worked with:
- Sheikh Taha
- Hossam and Serena Ramzy.
- Oojami
- The Lion of Egypt himself Hakim.
So it’s with these connections and years of experience that I write.
