Milena is a bellydancer and physician in Lakewood, Washington. She's a former resident of Washington D.C. where she first began her training. She began taking lessons after September 11, 2001, as an outlet from the pressure of treating war casualties. Milena developed a deep affection for bellydance as well as a dedication to understanding its cultural roots. She's received instruction from several artists in Washington D.C. as well as in the Seattle-Tacoma region. She continues to train locally, perform as a soloist, and perform with the troupe, Shahdaroba. Milena also works as a physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and writes a health column for Zaina Hart's publication, the Belly Dancer Magazine.
