Amani Jabril

Amani Jabril is an instructor and choreographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. She has studied and performed extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East and North America. Nominated in 2004 and 2006 for Zaghareet's Favorite Oriental Dancer of the Year, she is best known for her fluid and deeply sensual style, and is adept with a wide variety of dances from across the Middle East.

Her acclaimed performances on the international and local scene have created a buzz in the world of Middle Eastern dance. Trained from an early age in dance and drama, AMANI has built her reputation on combining and delivering stellar dance technique with the heart and soul of the Middle East. She has performed throughout Europe, Egypt, U.A.E., Africa, Canada and the United States.

An educator, as well as a dancer, AMANI brings her exceptional ability to teach others about the culture surrounding the dance. She has presented papers, been a featured columnist in dance publications, and is currently writing a book, CONFESSIONS OF AN AMERICAN BELLY DANCER, soon to be published. In addition to her credits, she is the recipient of several grants which have taken her worldwide to study and perfect her artistry.

‘ Sure it is!’, I thought to myself with a frustrated sigh, and turned my attention back to the dancer currently “expressing” himself in the center of the closely-knit circle of onlookers and hopeful participants…it was the pull of the tide of a collectively induced catharsis that would provoke otherwise sociable party-goers to become individual performers and to transgress, if even for a brief moment, the boundaries of their everyday existence…
