Dunyah

Dunyah (formerly Dunyah al Hannah) has been dancing since 1976, when she fell in love with the dance and began taking classes from Feiruz Aram. Soon after that, she moved to Oregon, where she has lived ever since. In Oregon she continued her studies with several excellent teachers and traveled to San Francisco for Jamila Salimpour's week-long workshops. She began to drum for other dancers as a member of Rhajjahan, a dance troupe that performed together for several years during the 1980s. In 1990 Dunyah and her husband began to perform together to provide live music for belly dance shows. Soon they formed Troupe Americanistan, (now Americanistan), and they have been playing together and developing their music for fourteen years now. The band performs regularly in Eugene at Café Paradiso and at venues all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
