Jeanette Cool

Studying piano and flute as a child, Jeanette Cool furthered her studies at the University of Kansas, receiving Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Theory. Through her love of music, Ms. Cool was introduced to that of other cultures, including the Arabic world, leading her to investigate music and dance styles from those countries. Ms. Cool began Middle Eastern dance studies with Jamila and Suhaila Salimpour, later teaching and directing a performance group, the Dancers of Amorfia. As General Manager for Amorfia Productions, a company co-founded with her husband, Georges Lammam, she sponsored instructional seminars in Middle Eastern dance and assisted in the production of educational materials and seminars for studies in Arabic music and dance. Proficient on flute, piano and pipe organ, Ms. Cool has studied the Egyptian kanoon and has accompanied Mr. Lammam on two recordings, Souk al Amir and Fyom Wehlele. Ms. Cool is director of a private foundation devoted to philanthropic work in education, arts and community service.
