The Gilded Serpent presents...
Sabrina Mijares
Sabrina Mijares began belly dance at the age of fifteen, in the cultural hub of Miami, Florida. Over the years she has studied with Roshana Nofret, Valerick Molinary, Tamalyn Dallal, Najmah Nour, Hanan, and more. Her earthy, fluid style is rooted in Egyptian belly dance and Persian dance. She has danced professionally with Al Amoura Dance Company in Gainesville, FL, MECA Dance Ensemble, and Belly2Abs Unveiled Troupe in Miami, FL. She has taught beginner belly dance and choreography at the University of Florida and Miami Girls Rock Camp. Currently, she teaches Beginner Belly Dance Movement and Healing in Miami, at a multi-use art space known as ‘The Bridge.’
Many years ago, the dance inspired her to explore the relationship between culture and the arts. In pursuit of this topic, she studied Anthropology and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida. She will continue her study of dance, culture, and healing in August, 2018 at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, where she will begin a Master’s program in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling.
She believes dance is a healing art that can be used to practice artistic expression, spread cultural awareness, and experience empowerment. Her goal is to continue learning on this life long process of becoming a dancer and to inspire and empower women through dance.
