Safaa Farid

Safaa Farid has been singing for and managing belly dancers in Egypt for over 30 years. Over the course of his career he has performed with many different dancers in thousands of venues from the cabarettes of Harem to the best five star hotels in Cairo. Safaa appeared in 3 films singing with superstar dancer Zizi Mustafa whom he managed for the last 9 years of her career. He currently manages one of Cairo’s most popular dancers, his wife Leila Farid.

Safaa Farid is one of the best-loved singers of belly dance songs in the world, having recorded songs on over 25 CDs for famous Egyptian and international dance artists. He has acted as artistic director for many of these CDs.

Safaa’s passion that foreign dancers understand the music they dance to, led him to co-create Camp Negum, a small and personal festival in Egypt that brings dancers up-close to live Egyptian music and culture. The camp hosts teachers who are some of the biggest stars to ever grace the stages of Cairo.

Camp Negum features Orchestra Negum, directed by Safaa and composed of some of the most talented musicians of dance music in Egypt. Orchestra Negum is loved by belly dancers for the quality and artistry they bring to the stage. They have played for dancers in nightclubs in Germany and Vienna, in theater engagements in Australia and England and in festivals in Finland, Greece, Russia, Japan and Egypt. They currently play for star dancer Leila Farid in Cairo and for festivals around the world.
