Zaheea Zaheea ("luminous" in Arabic) began studying Middle Eastern dance in 1991. Zaheea's friendly and creative nature shines forth in her performances, which are stylish, elegant and playful. In 2001, Zaheea passionate artistry was recognized by her peers, when she was awarded the title "Belly Dancer of the Year". Now retired from competition, Zaheea's eye for detail makes her a frequent judge at contests such as Belly Dance of the Year and Queen of the Bay. Currently, Zaheea is featured as a soloist on several performance DVD compilations, including
Zaheea is based in Sacramento, where she is the featured dancer at Marrakech Restaurant. In addition to her solo work, Zaheea enjoys collaborating with other dancers. She has been a guest artist with Unmata, Opel Productions and Belladonna Dance Company. Zaheea holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California, Sacramento and works full time as a field archaeologist in addition to dancing. Articles on
