Rain
Arabian Nights at Sea, the belly dance cruise
to Ensenada, Mexico was, once again, a fabulous adventure.
This September we were 180 strong; that’s a pod of
180 enlightened souls celebrating dance and music
and camaraderie amongst the population of thousands
on the Carnival Cruise ship. You can really feel our
sense of unity each night when we dine together. Each
year, as I regain my land legs, I feel like I’ve been
uplifted by what we’ve shared.

"This is the 3rd time I've been a guest of the
festival in Zagreb...quite an honor for me...and especially
meaningful because I first visited the festival in
1980 when I did my first research trip to the Balkans.
Now I've been back as a performer/teacher 3 time since
the war. I've been a guest on Dobro Jutro
Hrvatska (Good Morning Croatia...the morning
TV talk show) as well as having the TV come to document
my workshops and performances. Believe me, it
was quite an experience getting all made up and dressed
in my Rajasthani costume BEFORE 7am, and be coherent
enough to speak Croatian and dance for a live camera...."

We are very excited to have a first ATS impromptu
show in Taiwan. We would love to share this history
event with everyone in the world. KiKi Kuan
who is first one ATS / Tribal Belly dancer in Taiwan
invited America Tribal Belly Dancer "Sahira"
to Taiwan for 2006 Tribal Belly Dance workhsop. It
is a wonderful workshop that we were taught ATS /
Tribal Fusion Belly Dance by Sahira. Our Tribal Belly
Dance journey is just beginning! ---KiKi Kuan

of solo dancer is Sherry Shen, who
performed fusion style inspiring by her trip to San
Francisco this May.

Sherry
and her troupe members performed at Cafe Ole,
a cozy coffee shop where writers and jounalists gather
around very often. They presented different styles of
bellydance to the audience and by the end all dancers
got snap shot showing they were really having fun!
The

Dance Festival in San Francisco!
Sharlyn Sawyer is the director of
Ballet Afsaneh and John
Compton is the director of Hahbi'Ru
Dance Ensemble. Both are part of this weekends
program. A great show by the way! Photo on right is
the both of them 20+ years ago.
